Filling salad dressing in plastic cups with final packaging

Schuy + Folmeg Maschinenbau GmbH develops customized filling and packaging solutions for its customers. Thus, in the project presented here, a filling machine with subsequent final packaging was developed that can process different products, different cup formats and also different secondary packaging.

The machine's flexibility is continued in its hygienic equipment. The concept of the machine allows the retrofitting of a cup and blank sterilization system and a laminar flow hood for the enclosed sterile area. The dosing system can be connected to the customer's CIP system.

Thanks to a format-flexible design of the bucket cells, sealing heads, and leak detection test heads, the time required for a format change has been significantly reduced.

Functional process

With this project, the Hügli company was supplied with a flexible filling and packaging line

A wide range of products can be filled into several cup formats and individually packaged.

The machine was also flexibly designed in terms of hygiene equipment to meet customer requirements.

The highly flexible adaptation to customer requirements opens up scope for special application possibilities and makes Schuy + Folmeg the ideal partner for your next project.

First, the cups are destacked from the cup magazine and inserted into the cup cells. Then the cups are indexed under the filling nozzles. One set each of rotary cutter and membrane filling nozzles is installed in the machine,
between which can be switched depending on the product. In the next step, blanks are placed on the cups and sealed by heat contact welding. The subsequent thermal leakage check detects leaking cups.

An inkjet print head is used to print a best-before date or batch number on the side of the cups. The cups are then lifted out of the cup cells and conveyed through a metal detector. The metal detector is followed by the rejection of the defective cups. In the final step, the cups are picked and packed into the waiting carton.

An intermediate layer of paper is inserted into the carton between each layer.
